A Primer for the June FOMC Meeting
Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will provide new forecasts for growth, inflation and the consensus trajectory on rate hikes after the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on Wednesday. We expect growth estimates to be weaker, inflation higher and the trajectory for rate hikes to hold at two moves in 2016. June is off the table, but July is still a possibility. If the Fed is forced to wait until September, that will likely be the only rate hike this year.
